If you have an ebay account then you need to change your account password as ebay confirms they have been hacked... do it now!

eBay confirms attackers made off with names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and encrypted passwords. eBay explained that financial info like credit card numbers and other sensitive data (like PayPal accounts) are kept in a separate encrypted database which wasn't compromised.

To change your eBay password, log into your account, then click your name in the upper left corner. Select Account Settings (or click here to go to it directly.) Click "Personal Information" on the left side of the page, and "edit" next to your password.

Thanks, Mike! I've been out of pocket today so I haven't checked e-bay for any messages. I'll change my password, too. How did you receive the message from e-bay? Via personal e-mail or your e-bay messages?

Actually eBay has yet to send a single email to it's users. Instead it sent a press release to the news outlets instead hoping to jump in front and try to control the public relations image. Their image is more important than the private information we've entrusted them to protect...and failed.

Sad but true.

What's really bad is that it took them close to 3 months to inform us... eBay said the attack occurred “between late February and early March”. Totally unacceptable, IMO.

I got my password changed, too. And, there finally was a notice in my messages on e-bay telling me to change my password and why. Thanks again for the heads-up.
