Spent a few days at my son's place in the Hill Country. I'm quite impressed that he gotten so much work done in such a short time. For a 25 years old, His energy is non-stop! I can barely keep up( I didn't show it though) Weather was nice and cool at night.

Beautiful place!!! And Axis' too (very tasty meat for those of you that have never had it yet)!!!

Yes Sir. Went right by ya Ranch. I'll stop by and drop you and Mrs. Ranch some axis next time.

I took YOUR advice on the salt block( You wrote it on another site) I pass it on to him. They( axis, white tails, ect...) were lining up to the salt block as if it was a block of cocaine. LOL !!!

Pushed hard to reroof my shop/garage last yesterday. Tore off 2 layers Friday after work.
Yesterday:
  • carted away debris
  • resheathed the roof with OSB
  • drip edge, self sealing ice block edge, felt paper etc
  • shingles on
Failed and only got shingles to within 32 inches of the peak before it got too dark to work.

Was out working from 5:30 AM to 10 PM.

90 and full sun. Started to get heat exhaustion at one point and went right in to soak my feet in cold water.

Learned my wife is afraid of heights.

Finished the filed of shingles. 14.5 foot eve to peak, 24 feet front to back.

Still need to put on the ridge cap shingles but will have to buy them new tomorrow.

My wife re-learned I am not good at resting.

Prepped/blanched/vacuum packed 6 pounds of green beans for freezing.

Watered the porch pots & hanging baskets.

Harvested more green beans for us to process tomorrow. Also harvested 7 more cucumbers & 10 big green peppers that I delievered to 3 of my neighbors.

Continued working on the carriage light fixtures.

Smoked 2 batches of skinless chicken breasts, ours with BBQ rub & Dieter's with sage... I did the smoke over hickory coals at 225 degrees for 2 hrs. Finished just in time as it started raining about 1800 hrs (we got 1.06" by midnight).

Moderate and steady rain, expecting more overnight.
First rain in about 2 weeks. First rain I'm home for and we have daylight to watch since we moved in.
I am not a fan of what I am seeing for water movement across this property.

Seasoned up a pork shoulder that I'll smoke for supper, along with 4 big potatoes.

Cleaned & refilled the redbird feeders, put out another seed block & then cleaned & refilled their water tub.

Harvested more tomatoes & jalapenos. Diced up the jalapenos & vacuum packed for freezing (these will be used for when I make pinto beans).
