Fed the cattle & put out a roll of hay ahead of the incoming cold front.

Line trimmed the yard so I can finish spraying RoundUp.

Rainy & a cold 39 degrees right now & the winds are at a constant 10 MPH... nobody in our house has any ambition today.

We may have settled on an interior paint color that works for both of us.

Made bread.

Ordered spraying supplies for the ranch.

Ordered new door hinges & door stops (brushed nickel) to replace the painted ones. They'll be installed when I start painting the houses.

Took the line trimmer to the repair shop to get the gas lines replaced as they're leaking. Also fueled up the ranch truck.

Started working on the chicken coop again. I set this project down nearly 3 years ago due to getting layed off from my oil/gas job. Went and bought some treated posts today and will be drilling holes this evening and tomorrow. I debated on whether to get 4x4 or 4x6 posts because I'm quite certain the 4x4's will warp like heck in less than a year. But then I decided it's just a chicken coop so I went with the cheaper 4x4's.

Made bread.

Went to town to pickup the line trimmer.

Filled the new redbird feeders & put them up.

Cleaned/refilled the Ez-Flo injection system with 15-30-15 & a gallon of chelated iron/micro-nutrients for the garden/trees/flowerbeds.

Suppose to rain a fair amount over the next 4 days...

Made a pot of pinto beans.

Seasoned up chicken for fajitas. I'll grill them for supper.

I have a leaky valve for the back flowerbed, so I fabricated a new valve subsystem using one of my brass ball valves. I'll install it when it stops raining.

Made a 3' tall cage out of fencing for the yellow Esperanza in the back flowerbed. This will support the lower branches to keep it more compact.

Got all the posts set in place for the chicken run. This was sort of a family event and everybody had a job. Good thing rain is on the way because I don’t think the clay was tamped in around the posts as good as should have been. No big deal I guess, a few good rains should set them up sturdy.

Cool & drizzly again...

Ordered 2 sets of Ultra-Quiet Nylon Garage Door Rollers to replace the noisy original ones.

Removed & applied the new sealant around the jaccuzzi tub in the master bath.

Did the weekly shopping.

Installed new garage door rollers on both doors. This entailed cleaning all the hinges of the old grease prior to the installation. Also cleaned & greased the screw gears on the garage door openers. Both doors are now much quieter.

Seasoned up a thick sirloin that I'll smoke for supper.

Start cleaning the garden.

Put out another suet block for the birds.

I have an armadillo that is trying to dig under the gate into the back yard, so I filled the tunnel in & set the trap on top of that spot. It's going to die...

Continued working on the chicken run this past weekend. I had thought about building a fairly simple coop, but that plan got deleted when my wife and daughter started talking about the neato coop they wanted. The 4 yr old wants a slide for the chickens, that ain't happening. Anyway, I've come up with a new design for the coop, and I spent half the day building a cupola for the roof. Cut a rooster for the top of the cupola.

^^^ Use 1/2" steel screen (not chicken wire) for the walls & top to keep the varmints out & don't forget the underground barrier that goes under the walls. ^^^

The plan is to use 1/2" for the walls/underground and chicken wire for the top. I'm concerned about the leaves sitting on top of the 1/2" stuff if I use it on top. Thoughts?

Chicken wire is for keeping chickens in the coop, but it won't keep varmints out... Coons & foxes will just tear it out to get the chickens& kill them.

The leaves will not be a problem.
