Made bread.

Picked up 2 bags of composted potting dirt so I can re-pot the ferns in the hanging baskets. Did one just to get started.

Passed out plates of Christmas cookies to our friends & neighbors.

Church.
Library trip.
Made more butternut ravioli for the freezer.
Made some fresh fettuccine and cooked it up as pasta aglio e olio for a later afternoon snack. Parsley was cut fresh form the herb pot on my deck - still going out there.
Pot of soup simmering still.

Repotted 3 more of the hanging baskets, (1 to go).

Started prepping food for Christmas supper... Thawed out the prime rib roast & got it seasoned up (crushed pepper, rosemary & a little garlic) & Mrs. Ranch made our traditional broccoli salad. Tomorrow I'll make bread & she'll make the 'twice-baked potatoes' while the roast is in the oven (it's nice to have 2 kitchens for special days).

Made 2 loaves of bread, 1 Italian & 1 garlic. Also made a batch of salt rolls.

Watered the garden, flowerbeds & all the trees.

Fed the cattle & put out another roll of hay.

Seared the rib roast on the grill & turned it over to Mrs. Ranch, it's on her now.

Christmas pandemonium today.

Drove to my dad's house for dinner. At one point we looked to the left and there were 4 guys out playing golf. Then looked to the right side of the road and there were half a dozen guys out ice-fishing. Sounds right for Michigan.

Repotted the last of the hanging baskets & picked up all of the 'trash' from this lil' project.

Refilled the redbird feeders.

Start cutting the Lirope groundcover back under the oak trees ( 5 done, 5 to go).

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.

We had my parents and the wife parents over as well as a couple friends. It was a great day indeed. The kids had a blast and got way to many presents and I even got to smoke a turkey that turned out pretty darn tasty if I say so myself. ;)

Did the weekly shopping & picked up the tank dye that I had ordered.

Finish trimming the Lirope under another tree before Mrs. Ranch interrupted my solitude to tell me that the upholstery guy called to say her dining room chair seats were done & that she was going to pick them up.

I reinstalled the chair seats when she got home because she was going to hound me if I didn't...

Drizzling here so no outdoor work today...

Disassembled Dieter's big kennel & got it out of the house since he won't go in it anymore. I'll either put it up in the attic or give it away.

Harvested a few more kohlrabi for the soup.

Made beef/barley/vegetable soup for supper. Everything in it (except for the peas) came from our spring & fall gardens.

Work on my cookbook.

Continued trimming the Lirope back under the trees.

Yesterday the high was 58 F.
Lot of rain over night, close to 3 inches.
Today we're under a few weather warnings:
  • River Flooding Warning
  • Lake Shore Flooding Warning
  • Flood Warning
  • Gale Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning
Forecast has is calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow starting over night and tapering off around noon tomorrow,

Wind currently sounds like it is trying to turn the house inside out.
