Last year I had a huge compost pile that eventually turned into this year's garden. This summer I want to start another pile next to the first one for a seconed garden next year. Last time I just scraped the grass off and piled it around the edge - which made it really easy for it to come creeping back in... This year I plan to toss it all to the chickens as 'pre-compost'.
What is your secret to good composting? Got any good tips to share?

For the best compost you want to make sure you have the right carbon:nitrogen ratio, you can find this info in this thread here. Watering the pile from time to time while turning it will make for the best compost.

Llama poo is great in my opinion for composting. If you can find someone with llamas, real good chance they will let you have their waste and its easy because they do it in the same pile so its easy to shovel up.

Heres a good article on it.
