Is this a Cicada killer wasp?

I've seen two of these massive wasps in my back yard in the last week. I believe these are Cicada Killer Wasps but not entirely sure.

If so I'll stop killing them, otherwise these things are far to big to be left alone with the kids and dogs.

1/4" reusable stinger too.
That's pretty crazy. Knowing for sure what these things are now I'll just warn the kids to stay away from them if they see them instead of killing them.

It's not very common for Cicada killer wasps to bother people so long as we don't bother them.

I've had them for a few years. Wait until one flies past you while carrying a cicada...

Saw these a lot growing up in New Jersey definitey cicada killers. Never seen one go after a human but they have HUGE stingers.
