Put out another suet block for the birds & replaced their water trough as the old one was leaking.

Poured the copper solution into the front stock tank & got 2 more batches going for the next tank.

Fed the cattle.

Finished transplanting the Lirope around the roses in front of the greenhouse, mulched the bed & then watered it all in.

Watered everything in the greenhouse & then put the 'sticky traps' up as a preventative measure against them dreaded white flies.

Round up will be fine as it will microbially break down in a few hours under warm conditions once in contact with the ground. It is a strong tool to clear a patch but I don't use it for maintenance. I prefer mechanical means (my hoe) for day to day weeding within the garden once crops are established.

Warm today. I didn't even wear a jacket to work - hat, gloves, and a sweater. Hit the low 40s F and sunny.

Spent 30 to 40 minutes after work breaking through ice and clearing paths for melt water to flow to the road and clearing the sidewalk back down to the pavement.

Next several days highs are forecast back in the mid 20s F.

Pretty warm today, the high was 79. It was a sunny, beautiful day!!!

Went to pickup the license sticker for my Jeep & then did the grocery/meat shopping. Trimmed & vacuum packed $200 worth of meat... Dieter helped since half of it is his.

Poured 3 quarts of concentrated black dye into the front stock tank to block the amount of sunlight penetrating the surface.

Watered the flats in the greenhouse.

It's a cool 48 degrees here with more drizzle... so different than yesterday.

Made bread.

Seasoned up 2 pork steaks that will be smoked for supper tonight. Mrs Ranch is making Twice-Baked Potatoes as a side & I'll make stuffed jalapenos when she's done in the kitchen.

Refilled the bird feeders.

Made a quadruple batch of our BBQ rub.

Built the frames for two more small hydroponic troughs. I am out of plastic sheeting for liners though so I sent the wife to home depot while she's out grocery getting.

One kid confined to his room sick.

Lower single digits F when I woke up. Close to freezing now but still on the frozen side.

It's 60 degrees & partly sunny right now, although we did have a drizzle this morning.

Since it's too wet outside, I decided to work on the bathroom faucet replacement starting in the guesthouse... 1 down, 3 to go.

Watered the flats & the hanging baskets in the greenhouse.

Making a gamble that we don't have any more hard freezes by moving the hanging baskets to the front/back porches.

Fed the cattle & put out hay.

What days are you looking at for planting potatoes.I was thinking later this week but it looks like it may be raining,I read somewhere the Almanac says Feb.21-25.

Cold and dark when I wake up in the morning so I don't really want to get out of bed. Overslept today.

0 F when I went out to the car this morning. Went out without hat, gloves, or a coat to make two trips from the car to the house with girlscout cookies.

2-4 inches of snow forecast for the next 20 hours. I'm ready for this winter to be over.

Drinking Johnny Walker Black Label while reading Carl Sagan Cosmos and the tactical-terrier is curled up at my feet. Think Oreos will go with scotch?

Grilled chicken thighs for Dieter.

Clean up the spider plants & water/fertilize everything in the greenhouse.

Its 52 degrees & rainy again...

Went to town to pickup more pipe dope so I can continue with the bathroom faucet replacements.

Received the new shade cover for the greenhouse. I'll hold off installing it for now as I want to clean & reseal all the panes first.

It was 71 degrees when I woke up, but the temp is now dropping due to a north wind but at least it's not raining (we had another 0.38" yesterday).

Made bread & also a small load of garlic bread.

Fueled up the tractor & put the bucket back on.

Fed the cattle.

Received Mrs. Ranch's Dwarf Canna bulbs ('Pink And Roses') this morning so I planted them in the pots on the front porch for her.
