We've had one day in probably the last week that hasn't rained so far. They are still calling for rain until Sunday.

On the plus side, spring should be nice! :D

Made bread.

Made a pot of pinto beans. I'll make our version of Spanish rice & chicken fajitas later in the day for supper tonight.

Disposed of the coon & reset the traps.

Divide/replanted the 'Mother-In-Law' Tongue, 2 for the back porch & 1 for a friend.

Put out another suet block for the birds.

Harvested a couple of pounds of asparagus spears. I'll blanch them tomorrow AM & freeze/vacuum pack them. They are putting on pretty good this year.

Chopped the tops of the potato rows with a garden rake. Trying to get the dirt to dry out a little faster as we had a little more rain than I would have liked on the newly planted seed.

Ranch where do you buy your suet blocks?

A coworker broke my little terminal block screw driver- Craftsman 1/8" slot screw driver mostly made of plastic and almost 12 years old. Walked into ACE as they sell Craftsman only to find out that ACE does not honor / participate in the lifetime replacement guarantee. So I had to drive down to the local maul (yes) where there is a Sears and I replaced the screw driver at no cost. Spent about an hour driving and in stores to replace the $4.75 tool.

It's 76 here & drizzling again. Everything is wet, wet , wet...

Went to town for limes & a gallon of paint. As soon as it's dry enough, I'll put a fresh coat of paint on the porch pots so I can get the dahlia tubers planted.

Harvested another pound of asparagus spears. Processed & froze what we had.

Opened the quart jar of sauerkraut today, it's good, but I'm going to leave the others for a few more weeks.

Sweet 'taters are rooting.

It 60 degrees & raining again here (0.87" thus far). Another dreary day...

Ordered parts for the irrigation system, most of it was the 1" brass shutoff valves to replace the leaking PVC ones (I must have got a bad batch of them when I originally did the install). I hate 'revisiting' stuff like this...

Watered the seed flats in the greenhouse.

Quarterly flour shopping - 50 pounds of high gluten bread flour, 25 pounds of whole wheat, 25 pounds of unbleached AP, 7 pounds corn meal, and a bag of peanut butter stuffed pretzels for $43. Blended the high gluten and whole wheat flours for our bread.

Finished off my hydroponic setup and found that my pump is too large. I will replace the pump with a smaller pump and post pics this week. LED grow lights being shipped at the speed of Amazon Prime.

Took the kids to the local aquarium fish store to look at fishies and give my wife a break.

Soup on the stove, bread in the oven.

I spent the weekend caring for the wife and daughter since they just tested positive for the flu last Thursday.

I did manage to get all my chives replanted and setup a new wired and wireless network for a friend using some nice Ubiquiti gear.

Grow lights came in and I determined I will have to alter my hydroponic setup.

Warm day and I didn't even wear a coat to work. Sweater, jeans, hat and gloves were enough as I walked out the door at 04:30.

Primed the pots so they're ready to paint (probably tomorrow). After that, I can plant the dahlia tubers & divide a large fern).

Received my irrigation parts order (3 valves are back-ordered). Assembled the 'nipples' for the brass valves, so they're ready to go whenever I get around to it.

Harvested more asparagus.

60 and sun second day in a row. Forecast calls for 30's and 1-5" of snow tomorrow, wind gusting to 40.

Started my onions today, Countrywide red and Walla Walla.

"Oh... there's a walla, and there's a walla. Nyuk nyuk nyuk."

If you know where the quote above came from, your old like me.

Bought a new alarm clock on amazon - product failure as the clock was DOA. The wire connecting to the positive terminal pad for the battery was not connected. Third alarm clock I bought in attempt to replace my old alarm clock. This is getting stupid.

Overslept by an hour. Great way to start the day.

Kid with an ear infection - third kid with an ear infection in three weeks.

The really good news is that elusive/aggravating armadillo that has been tearing up the lawn/garden showed up last night & ran smack into a wall of #4 shot. The buzzards are cleaning up the remains as I type this.

Did the weekly shopping. Picked up bags of sand, peat moss, & compost/dirt.

I mixed the dirt components for the porch pots & then got 10 of the 15 filled & planted. I'll finish the rest tomorrow...

Received the rest of the brass valves for the irrigation system.

Harvested more asparagus.

The pear trees are leafing out & they're just starting to bloom, The potatoes are almost all up & the 'Texas Star' hibiscus has 11 shoots up!!!

Did the monthly updates & backups of all our computers.

Took the hanging baskets out of the greenhouse, watered them & rehung them on the porches.

Finished planting the porch pots.

The Crape Myrtles are starting to leaf out... at least a month earlier than normal.

Turned an old 2x2 test bed into a 2x6 tomato/onion bed. Dumped in some soil from some grow bags I had squash in last year.

Menards has Burpee's organic seed starting mix on sale for $3 and change per bag. I usually use Jiffy, but price is too good to pass up.

Rebuilt my hydroponic setup and hung the lights for it. I still have to change the connector on the new pump such that I can plug it into a 12 VDC wall wort (12 V BLDC motor, 67 liter per hour, capable of a 3 m head).
